Purpose

Be a catalyst for action, aiming to involve the community in and around the city in sea-themed events and activities which demonstrate the value of the city’s relationship with the sea;
Be the first step in changing people’s perception and behaviour about the city’s relationship with the sea and the value to them;
Be a first push for change in people’s perception and behaviour and about the value to them of the city’s relationship with the sea;
Connect organisations in and around the city to build-on and widen the range of sea-themed leisure, recreation, sport, employment and business opportunities;
Kick-start the process to improving the image, identity and reputation of the city and contribute to the creation of a new brand for the city;
Establish events held in the city, such as the Boat Show, to show the full range of what Southampton has to offer the wider community.
