“LOOK OUT! Southampton’s Titanic Story in song”

Titanic left Southampton Docks at the start of its final voyage on the 10 April 1912. An evening of folk music is being held to commemorate the departure 98 years ago.
To mark the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic, three Southampton song writers and performers, Jeff Henry, Brian Hooper and Barry Wake have come together to tell the story in a production featuring song, music and the spoken word. “Look Out” is told from Southampton’s perspective, mainly through the eyes of the crew and in particular Fred Fleet, the unfortunate look out who first sighted the iceberg. Performed by the “White Star Line-Up” which comprises the three composers and four other outstanding musicians and singers, the preview performances are set for 10 April 2010 and April 2011, with the full production forming part of the centenary activities in April 2012. It will also be released as a CD.
